The day my doctor said, “You will die if you don’t stop” was the day I realized I had to find a way to change my life permanently. After years and years of existing in high stress and pushing myself too much resulting in multiple autoimmune illnesses which were breaking down my ability to function, it was time to listen. I was struggling each day and no longer happy. I had to stop doing what I had always done to regain my health and my happiness. I had to learn how to operate differently in this busy world of ours. Over the next few months of my healing journey I learned my most valuable life lesson yet: “The art of happiness is in the pause.”
I had been in survival mode, a state of “fight or flight”, and did not even realize it. So many of us think tension, headaches, inflammation, digestive issues, rashes, and other stress-related symptoms are a normal part of life. Now I know they aren’t normal and are actually an indicator of deeper issues. It turns out stress is more rampant in our world than I realized. According to the World Health Organization, stress is the health epidemic of the 21st century. When you are in the middle of it, it is hard to see it.

I was a successful corporate leader, had a beautiful home, a vacation property, a loving husband, two young sons, a dog, and a cat. My life looked perfect from the outside, but I was crumbling on the inside because I wasn’t listening to my body. I thought I was happy until I kept getting stress-related illnesses and realized that happiness and health were not what I was experiencing. Over time, it became clear to me that old, ingrained belief systems were the underlying reason I lived in a state of stress and overwhelm. Through many years of self-study, trial, and error, I cleared past issues and healed myself, transforming my life. I learned to quiet my mind, listen to my body, love myself unconditionally, and found true happiness. Now my mission and purpose are to help others transform their lives.
According to a Gallup survey of more than 2.5 million people, happiness is in sharp decline across the United States. I wasn’t surprised by this because I hear over and over from clients, “I am physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted at the end of each day.” “I worry too much.” “I can’t sleep.” “I’m not happy.” Most of us are going strong 24/7, 365 days per year. Our bodies were not designed to be in perpetual stress. Over time, when that stress is constant in us, we are working ourselves into burnout and illness.
When you are exhausted and stressed all the time, your body responds to your thoughts by elevating your emotions, which releases the stress hormones of adrenaline and cortisol into your system and prepares your body for “fight or flight” response, putting your body in emergency mode. You become addicted to these emotions, and when you live in that elevated survival state, your immune system is compromised. You are draining your own life force, which results in illness. That is where I existed for many years.
I transformed my life and currently thrive in health, happiness, and well-being following my heart and doing what I love. As a result of my personal success, I used the same practical tools with my clients with great success leading me to create The BEING Zone System that I am now sharing with you in this book. Earlier in my life, I wasn’t ready—it took three bouts of stress-related illnesses before I was able to create a life I love.
My degree from the University of Washington in Organizational Development and Psychology was instrumental in my corporate career and now as an intuitive life, career, and business coach. I am certified as an Energy Coach, Hypnotherapist, NLP, and TLT Practitioner. I went on to learn a variety of healing modalities including EFT, Reiki, Thetahealing, and the Healing Codes, I believe my Energy training, Yoga, Qigong, Essential Oils, and Acupressure have been a key part of my own healing journey.
I have been fortunate enough to work with other coaches, psychologists, therapists, and mental health counselors who have found my tools and techniques extremely useful in their work with their clients. One of my most significant discoveries that impact each of you, is there is no normal. There is just life, how you deal with it makes the difference. I have continued to fine-tune The BEING Zone system based on first-hand experiences with clients and therapists. There is no one way so this system is designed to accommodate everyone’s uniqueness.
