Feel Lighter and Happier

You will be amazed at how good you feel when you declutter your space, work, home, or car.

Feng Shui’s practice says that clutter is low, stagnant, and confusing energy that continually drains energy from you. It also negatively influences, or blocks, the flow of energy in many areas of your life. Most people avoid clearing clutter as it takes effort and can be time-consuming.  It is often overwhelming to get started.

Step by Step

My solution to you is to take baby steps.  Over January, commit to 10 minutes per day during the week and 30 minutes each weekend day.  You will be surprised at how much you can accomplish in a small amount of time.

Week 1: Start in the Bedroom

I recommend you start in the bedroom as clutter in this area will impact your sleep and overall wellbeing.

  1. Clean out a drawer of your bedside table or dresser every 10 minutes you have allowed yourself. You can do 5 in one week, and that will take care of most of your drawers.
  2. On the weekend, you can clean out and organize your clothes that are hanging.
  3. Don’t forget to clear out or organize any storage under the bed
  4. Finally, clear out all items that do not belong in the bedroom, storage items, work items, and exercise equipment.

Week 2: Declutter Your Kitchen

In Feng Shui, they say the state of your kitchen impacts your health

  1. Clean out your refrigerator.
  2. Clean the stove and organize all the pots and pans.
  3. Clean out a drawer per day. Most of us have up to 10 or more drawers, so this could take a full week and weekend.
  4. Organize your cupboards and pantry. Again do one per day and tackle the pantry on the weekend as that is often the most significant job.

Week 3: Your Primary Living Space

  1. Your front entrance is the way your house gets its energy nourishment. You want to be sure your entryway is clean and clear. Let go of any objects that do not delight you in this area.
  2. Make sure your living/dining areas have items that feel good and make you happy. You want to bring a sense of beauty to this area. If it feels cluttered or heavy, take time to evaluate what to move out.
  3. Keep only the in-season items in your main entry closet.

Week 4:  Your Bathroom and Laundry Room

  1. Clean out a drawer per day
  2. Clean out and organize the cupboards on the weekend.

In just one short month, you have decluttered your house, freed up energy making your personal space a place you want to be.
